Security doors at daycare centers have become increasingly common in recent years.
But a recent case in the Netherlands raised some eyebrows.
In the Netherlands, a woman at a daycare center in the Hague was surprised to see her child’s security door open to reveal an engagement ring.
The mother, a security expert, posted the picture to Instagram on Wednesday.
A week later, she saw a similar incident on another preschool in the city of Groningen, which also has a security door.
The two incidents happened at two different preschools in Groningen that offer preschool services, the Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad reported on Thursday.
The girl at Groningen’s center is 15 years old and has an infant.
The other boy is 17 and in a day care setting.
Both children were given their parents’ names, the newspaper reported.
The parents said the ring was given to them by the parents of their daughter.
The Dutch police have opened an investigation into the incident, according to NRC.
“It is a clear case of abuse,” the newspaper quoted the parents as saying.
