Managers for a California meat processing plant said they have been reimbursing workers for the damage caused by the government’s shutdown.
The Workers’ Compensation Board has said that the company was on its way to reimburse the workers for about $5,000, but it did not provide an estimate of the cost.
The company has been working with workers since last week to restore equipment after a power failure in the plant last week.
The company has since been in discussions with the Federal Emergency Management Agency about reimbursings.
The federal government has also offered to help cover the costs.
